Yes. Dr. Thomas performs both the RYGB and VBG laparoscopically. Done this way, the post-operative recovery is faster, with less pain and less wound problems. However, the overall complication rate for laparoscopic surgery is higher than in the equivalent operation done in an open manner. Therefore, the criteria for the laparoscopic procedures are more strict.
